Hello! I just wanted to share one of the community emails that I sent out during the autumn season. If you find this interesting or valuable, feel free to join the OfficiallyPhoebs email community!
Over the autumn season, I was able to clear out my main digital spaces. Not only that, I was able to organize them in a uniform way so that no matter where I am digitally, I have a good idea of where things are and where new things should go. If you're curious, this is how I set it up in my current digital task manager (Tick Tick) and cloud drive (Google Drive) into different categories that worked for me -
- Exploration 🧭
- This would include things related to travel, activities, getting out of my comfort zone, etc.
- Household 🏡
- This would include anything related to the running of my home (ex. “The last time I…” log).
- Office 📋
- This would include anything related to work.
- Personal 🐌
- This would include goals, hobbies, learning, etc.
- Relationships ➿
- This would include anything relevant to those I'm in relationship with (ex. Gift Lists).
- Shared 🎪
- This would include items intended for sharing, collaborating, and connecting with others.
- Archives 📁
- This would include items that are still valuable to me, but are not actively needed for the time being.
I feel so much better now that there are clear “rooms” in my digital house.
In a poll a few community letters back, I asked what would be a valuable series for you - Completing 75 Day Challenges or Building a Creative Life, the top result that I received was building a creative life. So, please consider this the 1st entry in this informal series!
So although I didn't do a lot of “creating” in the sense people have come to think of it in, I would say that I aided my creative process and spaces which I create to step into the right direction in this season of my life.
I believe that since we are always spending time in “a space” whether in a physical, digital, or mental way we should curate and cultivate these areas to best suit our needs and goals. And generally speaking, I do my best thinking and my best work in a space that has order. And it's not order that strives to be perfection, but order that not only works with how I think, but allows me to take actions on those thoughts.
If you hadn't organized a space you frequent in a while (whether it's your desk, bedroom, or Instagram), I want to encourage you to spend 5 minutes thinking about what you actually want from that space (for example, peace, encouragement, or focus) and then take another 20 minutes taking action to get it that much closer to fulfilling that desire!
I'm wishing you an amazingly blessed weekend and week ahead and I'll catch you next time!
